You whisper balm

You stand in my eyes
like a children’s roundabout
putting away adult intentions
adult responsibility’s
letting the concrete
maturity slip away its tonic

It’s the awe of the childlike balm
soothing the eyes of this ageing
enamelled shell, stealing lip pecks
as a teenage spirit worn coat
warming on works journey

You stand in my eyes
like a children’s roundabout
bright colours and a spat
of dirt, which is the perfect
honesty of life going

around and around
